Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 17, 2026
This app is operated by Twelve Mile Recovery for its alumni community, family counselling clients, and partners. Because recovery is deeply personal, we treat your information with care, in line with Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial health-privacy legislation (such as PHIPA).
Information we collect
- Your name, email, and password (stored encrypted — we never see it).
- Optional profile details you choose to add: sobriety date, bio, photo.
- Community activity: group-chat messages and event/activity sign-ups.
- Counselling: sessions you book, any optional note you add when booking, and attendance. Counsellors may keep private notes that only they can see — never visible to clients.
How we use it
- To run the alumni community, events, group meetings, calendar, and chat.
- To schedule and host 1-on-1 and family counselling video sessions.
- To send essential emails (account, password resets, session reminders, announcements).
- To administer the program (approving members, capacity planning).
Where your data is stored
- Your data is hosted in Canada (Supabase, Montréal region).
- The app is served via Vercel; some transient application processing occurs on servers in the United States. Stored data remains in Canada.
- Video calls are provided by Daily.co (with Jitsi as a fallback).
Who can see your information
- Approved alumni can see other alumni's names, bios, and (only if you opt in) sobriety milestones in the directory and chat.
- Family counselling clients cannot see the alumni community, and alumni cannot see family clients — the two are kept separate.
- Counsellors see the clients who book with them. Administrators manage members and view activity reports.
- We do not sell your information or share it with anyone except the service providers needed to run the app, or as required by law.
Security
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, passwords are hashed, and access is restricted by row-level security so people only see what they're permitted to.
Your rights
- You control your profile details and whether to share milestones.
- You may access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information at any time — just contact us below.
Retention
- We keep your information while your account is active, and delete it on request or when your account is removed (subject to any records we must keep by law).
